Second Edition of Russian Film Days in Mumbai 15th to 18th November 2016

Continuing to develop the cultural relations between Russia and India, Cinemarus production company, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Filmmakers Union, presents the second edition of the international film festival Russian Film Days in the capital of Bollywood — Mumbai. The festival will be held from the 15th to the 18th of November, with the opening ceremony and the screening of the opening film slated to be held at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai and the remaining days of the festival at Cinepolis. The entry to the festival will be free and at a first-come, first-serve basis.

The opening film of the festival is “Very Best Day” (2015, directed by Zhora Kryzhovnikov) will be screened at Royal Opera House. The Indian audience, through this festival, will get to see the best of Russian cinema, spanning across genres– sports drama “Versus” (2016, directed by Nurbek Egen), comedy “Good boy” (2016, Director: Oksana Karas), polar blockbuster “Icebreaker” (2016, directed by Nikolay Khomeriki), comedy “Friday” (2016, directed by Evgeny Shelyakin), drama “Queen of  Spades” (2016, directed by Pavel Lungin) and the best Russian box-office movie of 2016 “The Crew” (2016, directed by Nikolay Lebedev) to name a few.

The second edition of Russian Film Days in Mumbai will be attended by actors Catherine Shpitsa, Elena Zakharova, Ieva Andrejevaite, Olga Filimonova, Alexander Pal, Sergey Chirkov, producers Vasily Solovyov, Igor Tolstunov and other filmmakers as well. In addition to screenings, actors and directors will meet with the audience, visit a Bollywood Studio, hold a press conference, a round table, and also host social and business events.

According to Mr. Alexey Govorukhin, Executive Producer, Russian Film Days in Mumbai, “The location of the festival is of prime importance here. Mumbai is the recognized capital of the film industry of India and one of the most important economic and cultural centers of the country. Russian Film Days will contribute to the development of new relationships with the creative and economic elite of the country. It will help strengthen cooperation in the field of film making and also promote cultural exchange and create a positive image of Russia as a strategic partner of India with the help of the language of cinema.”

The first Russian Film Days festival passed in 2015 was mentioned in a joint statement of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the framework of the BRICS summit. After the massive success of its first edition and keeping in mind Russia’s international policy, the second edition is underway on a much larger scale.

Maria Lemesheva, who is the General Producer of Russian Film Days in Mumbai, councilor of administration of the Russian Filmmakers Union and the Editor-in-chief of The Hollywood Reporter Russia says, “Russian Film Days in Mumbai has become a traditional event. Last year, the Indian audience very heartily received the films showcased at the festival. We hope that this year too, the audience embrace the films as enthusiastically, especially because we bring some of the most exciting movies from Russia. Together with our partners we do everything possible to create and deepen the interest of the Indian audience towards Russian cinema and to establish close ties between the film industries of both the countries.”

followed by the screening of the opening film at the Royal Opera House &

16th to 18th Nov: the films will be screened at Cinepolis

Entry : free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis
